Some things what buggers me with this confession:
1. I declared a weeaboo, cause using a japanese program much more often, than Photoshop. Thanks a lot.
2. Of course it’s hard to paint on it. Photoshop is not even a painter program. You can draw and paint with it, but as it’s name carries, it’s estabilished rather for editing photographies.
3. I think, a lot of people still use PS beside of SAI. Like I do too. Even though, SAI is much user friendly with the ram and painting techniques.
4. Talking about RAM. Excuse us, that some artist can’t afford to buy hight tech laptops and Home PCs to run motherfucking ramgobble PS 5, only SAI and lower versions of PS.
5. Does it really matter, what media you use for creating art pieces? I mean look at those oekaki artist! They use the most basic pixel stuff, (Shi painter and such) yet, some of them create masterpieces with them!
6. And the most important observation: It’s never about the program. It’s about the artist. Always were and always will.
Sorry, I hope I’m not gonna get eaten up, using my privilege of freespeech.

seems like a hipster got butthurt that SAI is too mainstream now
and from their logic, I am shit tier for only using oekaki/Tegaki which are even more simpler than SAI huehuehueWoah what the hell is this? I’m sorry, I don’t care what program you prefer, but photoshop is pretty ass for sketching no matter what. Sai and Open Canvas and Sketchbook Pro are all vastly superior as far as actual, fluid, natural drawing goes… and since when does using sai mean the person is only using it because it’s japanese? Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe Sai is used because it’s actually really, really easy to use and it lets an artist simply create rather than constantly battle adjustments, technical input and let’s not forget the ungodly ram-hogging.
Sai feels more like you’re drawing with real media - all it’s missing is the tooth of the paper (and if you have a tablet that simulates tooth surface then, well, problem solved). It also has an awesome, easy to use and not madness inducing, vector pen tool. I still, to this day, cannot make photoshop’s pen tool obey me… I have to use illustrator if I want that.
And I’ve got news for this OP, but any digital art is abused to make “shiny stuff”. Photoshop dodge and burn shading and lense flares, screen layers with pure white highlights on every surface of some moe girl’s , for whatever reason, oiled up skin? How many pictures like that even exist?
I use both programs. Photoshop can do things Sai can’t and Sai can do things Photoshop can’t… sai also just lets me DRAW without thinking it’s a program. Sometimes I just don’t want to put up with photoshop’s bullshit (even though it’s my most used program)
I totally abuse tags to be passive aggressive.
^All of this. People always assume the program matters more than the artist, but that’s never true, even if you’re using traditional media. A great artist can make something awesome with a BIC pen or MS Paint, but a less experienced artist won’t be able to do anything with the finest paints or the most expensive program.
